This course is suitable for those who would like to develop their understanding of the health sector to support progression in the workplace or further study in the health care sector. ESOL/EAL learners must have completed ESOL level 1 or above.
The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Working in the Health Sector will give learners the opportunity to investigate a work role in the health sector and provide the underpinning knowledge needed to work effectively. This includes the role of the healthcare worker, personal development, communication skills, health and safety, quality standards and equality and diversity in the health sector.
Teaching and assessment are through a range of in-class activities, group work and discussion, and the completion of an individual portfolio of written tasks for the qualification. This is a knowledge-only qualification; therefore, no work placement is required.
Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress to a healthcare support worker apprenticeship, a level 3 qualification related to your area of work, or an Access to HE Diploma for entry to university. You could also apply for work roles as a support worker or care assistant.
