This course is suitable for those who are interested in working in Adult Social Care, for example as a domiciliary care worker, providing care to people in their own homes, or a care worker in a residential care home.
You will complete a Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care. This covers an introduction to the adult social care sector including job roles and opportunities, the values and principles of care workers, skills and attitudes, communication, and the roles and responsibilities of a care worker. During the course you will also complete an Entry 1 ICT qualification and receive a workshop from Newcastle Careers Service about CV writing and job applications.
Teaching in class will include discussions, group work, use of IT, and a variety of written activities. Assessment is through a portfolio of workbooks completed individually, during class time. These can be either handwritten or completed electronically via Google Classroom.
Upon successful completion of the course, we guarantee an interview with at least one local care provider, and the majority of our learners are successful in gaining employment in the care sector.
